I’ve bought a few and made some mistakes along the way, so here goes:

• Mothercare 1 tog sleep sac (6 – 18 months) – £24.99
  Naively bought whilst heavily pregnant for a princely sum of £19.99 (reduced from £24.99 would you believe!) and whilst expensive, I can’t really fault it other than on price. I has two sets of poppers over the shoulders so that you can get the fit just right, zips up in a jiffy and has a nice jersey lining. I’ve not long been using it and it’s only been through the wash a few times, so can’t really comment on how it washes over time, but will update when I know!
• Ikea Barnslig sleeping bag (0-6 months, 2.5 tog) – £8.99
  I liked the price! I liked the design! I liked the feel of the fabric! I liked the funky diagonal zip! I did not like the tiny armholes!
  I found it really difficult to get the little guy into this, and if not placed exactly right I felt like his arms might break being manhandled into it. If the weather hadn’t got warmer I’d have taken the scissors to it. That said, it’s held up fairly well to washing and tumble drying, with just a little bit of fading to the fabric.
• Green Baby Organic sleeping bag (0-6 months, 2.5 tog) – £34.99
  This was bought second hand, so I didn’t have to fork out the best part of 35 quid for it thank goodness. Having bought it second hand I am able to comment on how well it stands up to the rigours of repeated washing… appallingly. The plastic zip has distorted slightly to give the whole sleeping bag a wobbley appearance and I had to take to it with my trusty de-bobbling machine to get it looking half decent. That said, it was easy to get the little guy into and the cotton was lovely and soft.
• Sainsburys Tu Sleeping bag (0-6 months, 1 tog) – £10
  I love this sleeping bag! Its soft, with a beautiful applique design of animals on an ark, with poppers over the shoulder to ensure that putting the little guy to bed isn’t a hassle. It’s stood up to washing really well and at £10 I can’t really complain. Well, having said that the only negative feedback I do have is that the whole sleeping bag fastens with poppers, so it can take a while to do up. I like this so much that I’ve bought a bigger and warmer one for the little guy for winter, and half price in the sale!

So, there we have it – the Best Baby sleeping bag is Sainsburys Tu!

Six months into motherhood and who knows how much cash spent, I thought I’d share my experiences in The Best Baby… Obviously, I’ve not bought multiple baby baths (for example) to try them all out, so I would love to hear your experiences too.
